Back in I-O-W-A
April must have been a busy month, as I've managed to create 3 blog postings in only 30 days. Between visitors (Kirstin and Matt), trips (New Jersey Shore), weddings (congratulations, Cindy and Ken), and 1100 miles back to Iowa, a lot has happened.
I'm back in Iowa, doing my month of pediatrics at Mercy. It is fun playing with the kids, and all of the doctors and nurses are really great, but I don't think I'm cut out for dealing with really sick kids everyday. I've also managed to acquire my first infection after one week on this rotation, after surviving 8 illness-free months in Philadelphia. Don't worry, I'm taking plenty of Vitamin C. Things have not slowed down since my return, I've already been able to see many of my local friends, with beers at Wellman's, a birthday party for my friend Jen and an Ember Swift concert at Ritual Cafe.
Leaving Philly, as I mentioned was really hard. But the trip back made it a bit easier due to the stop in Indianapolis for Cindy and Ken's wedding. It was nice to see some old faces, and a wonderful way to say "see you soon" to others. It was a beautiful wedding, and a fun reception, with a mixture of salsa dancing led by Cindy's uncles and an encore of the Napoleon Dynamite dance from last summer's variety show. Afterwards, I was reintroduced to Midwest culture with beers at "The Wild Beaver" and some dancing on the bar to "Save a horse, ride a cowboy".
Hope everyone everwhere is having a wonderful week, and that April was as eventful a month as it was for me.
