Home in 2 weeks!!!!

Hello everyone, time for a little update. I wish I had some new photos to post, but I do not. I want a digital camera for Christmas (hint hint), so then I should be able to post fun photos all the time.

I'm half way through my 2nd month of Family Practice. Things are going well there, I actually like it a lot and will miss it when I'm gone. It is fun to work at a place where I can joke around with my boss, love the staff, and at the end of the day feel like I did something productive and made an impact on someone's life. Unfortunately, this does not narrow down my decision for a future career much. I think I will start not liking things when I start at the hospital in January. From what I've heard, Internal Medicine is not that much fun, and I am dreading surgery (horrible hours, on your feet all day, and little patient interaction....icky).

Thanksgiving here in Philadelphia was a lot of fun. Emily's Mom came out from Idaho to cook for us, and my friend Justin came up from York, PA to celebrate with us. The food was wonderful, and all I did was peel the apples for the pie and do the dishes. Then we had a heated game of Monopoly until 3 am and went to bed. I lost of course, so sorry Dad, I will not be taking over the family business. Friday, Justin and I went down to the Consitution Center and saw the Liberty Bell. It was amazing. I had no idea that the Bell was the symbol for both Abolition and Women's Sufferage. I actually cried. Now I need to see the rest of Independence Hall (who's coming to visit so I can take you?). Then we went to Body Worlds at the Franklin Insitute, which is an artwork/anatomy display created by a German scientist/artist, who found a new way of preserving cadavers. It was beautiful and interesting, but for the most part just reminded me of how little I remember from anatomy class 2 years ago.

I will be home the 23rd through the 1st, so if anyone is in Des Moines, I hope that I will get to spend some time with you. I am so excited to come home!!!!! I can't believe that I have been gone for almost 4 months...it's been such a whirl-wind experience.
